Formed in 2003, the Samuel Powers Rhythm Three began as the musical accompaniment to the SLC, UT zine known as Chiaroscuro; a zine which published 39 issues from 2002-2013. First unleashed on the public via several compilation CDs bundled with the zine, the SPR3 just refused to stop making music.
The band consists of the eponymous Samuel Powers, a robot named Kevin and another guy also named Samuel Powers.
They secrete something that could be considered music through many varied instuments; bass guitar, harmonic, vacuum, piano, bagpipe reed - If you find a discarded metal sign on the side of a freeway and record the wobbling sound it makes when you shake it, The SPR3 would use that in a song.
